TODAY! Being Latinx in Academia: Navigation, Support and Mentoring
Take part in Hispanic Heritage Month by sharing your support, advice and mentorship with Latinx students.
This Townhall will focus on mentoring and advising graduate students and navigating academia as Latinx folx. The navigating portion will focus on how we got to where we are and any tips we can share for anyone looking to pursue higher education/faculty positions. The conversation would begin with navigation and lead into the support/advising or lack thereof of graduate students.
Register for this virtual discussion led by Mellon College of Science alumnus Ivan Cao-Berg.
Zoom link will be provided in your confirmation email.

Pittsburgh Humanities Festival @Home
Last spring, the 2020 Pittsburgh Humanities Festival, sponsored by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the Humanities Center, was cancelled in response to the COVID 19 pandemic. We are therefore bringing some of those events to you on line, Friday evenings at 7:00 PM during the month of October. See below for details.
Pittsburgh Humanities Festival @ Home
Presented by
a production of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust & the Humanities Center at Carnegie Mellon University
October 2, 9, 16, & 23 | 7 pm
Join the conversation this fall, wherever you are, as Pittsburgh Humanities Festival @ Home presents "smart talk about stuff that matters." Catch free and fascinating live-streamed interviews with artists, academics, and intellectual innovators exploring a range of topics — from health care and policy, to incarceration, technology, and creating opportunities for artists of color in Pittsburgh.
Originally slated for March of 2020, and canceled due to the onset of the pandemic, this virtual reboot of the Pittsburgh Humanities Festival features a selection of guests originally slated for in-person "Core Conversations" — a cornerstone of the usual in-person Cultural District experience. Designed as virtual opportunities for meaningful dialogue, including a live Q&A opportunity, these events will connect us for conversation when we need it most. Each talk will be streamed on the Cultural Trust's Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Everyone Wants to Get to Heaven but Nobody Wants to Die
Jonathan D. Moreno
