Community Poetry Workshop

We are honored to host this workshop, brought to you by the Center for African American Poetry & Poetics (CAAPP), which will feature poet in residence Joel Dias-Porter aka DJ Renegade!

A Pittsburgh native and award-winning poet, Dias-Porter's poetry engages the act of improvisation through explorations of intimacy, jazz music, and family heritage.

This is a great and rare opportunity to learn and hear from an amazing artist. Spend the evening hearing the story and works of Joel Dias-Porter, and participate in a guided workshop.

This event will be held at the CEC in the Hill (1908 Wylie Ave), September 23rd, 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Communiversity: " Writing For Change "

Writing for Change focuses on advocacy, social justice, & solidarity and gives participants the opportunity to explore these topics by analyzing the works of local activists, writers, others seeking to enact change. Participants in this course will get a chance to learn about the social justice concerns throughout the Pittsburgh region, strengthen their critical inquiry skills, and employ various techniques in argumentative and persuasive writing.
This program will take place in person at Pitt's CEC in the Hill (1908 Wylie Ave) Thursdays starting September 30th, at 1:00 p.m.
