| Vol. 2 Issue 1.5, September 2021 | | | Community Poetry Workshop with Joel Dias-Porter "DJ Renegade" | | | We are honored to host this workshop, brought to you by the Center for African American Poetry & Poetics (CAAPP), which will feature poet in residence Joel Dias-Porter aka DJ Renegade! A Pittsburgh native and award-winning poet, Dias-Porter's poetry engages the act of improvisation through explorations of intimacy, jazz music, and family heritage. This is a great and rare opportunity to learn and hear from an amazing artist. Spend the evening hearing the story and works of Joel Dias-Porter, and participate in a guided workshop. This event will be held at the CEC in the Hill (1908 Wylie Ave), September 23rd, 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Space is limited register today! | | | | Communiversity: " Writing For Change " | | | | Writing for Change focuses on advocacy, social justice, & solidarity and gives participants the opportunity to explore these topics by analyzing the works of local activists, writers, others seeking to enact change. Participants in this course will get a chance to learn about the social justice concerns throughout the Pittsburgh region, strengthen their critical inquiry skills, and employ various techniques in argumentative and persuasive writing.
