Science-Fiction, Latin America, and the Art of Anachronism: An "Other" Science-Fiction is Possible
Guest lecturer Aníbal González, professor of Spanish from Yale University, will explore the captivating world of Latin American science fiction in a thought-provoking talk centered on time travel and anachronism. He will delve into how authors from Juana Manuela Gorriti to contemporary voices like Jorge Baradit and Yoss have wielded time travel to blur the boundaries of past, present, and future, while also reevaluating Indigenous knowledge, dystopian visions and Gothic undertones.

Guest lecturer Priscilla Melendez will speak about humor in the theater of Sabina Berman as she explores this topic in her book. Lunch will be provided.

Unveiling Posner Hall Third Floor Art Installation
Commissioned by the Department of Modern Languages, alumna Angelica Bonilla Fominaya created "Footsteps of a Stranger," an art installation that merges languages, cultures and immersive technologies. A reception with the Center for the Arts of Society and the College of Fine Arts, will follow Fominaya's presentation on her creative process for designing this art piece.
