Opportunity for CMU students [Ayúdanos a enseñar Python y salvar las brechas de equidad]

Hi all.  Is Spanish your first language?  Do you want to help a CMU project address equity divides and provide entirely-free world-class Computer Science high school curriculum, training, and support (all truly free) to Spanish-speaking teachers and students across the globe?

At CMU Computer Science Academy, we just translated our flagship CS1 course into Spanish.  We are now looking for high school teachers to join our pilot and teach CS1 to their students, in Spanish of course.  And we are looking for CMU students to join our project to produce more Spanish content, and to train and support teachers who use our product.

Thus, there are a few great ways that you can help:

1. Put us in touch with high school teachers
We need to get the word out, to find teachers who will join our CS1 pilot, and teach CS1 in Spanish to their students.  Ideally, these teachers would be in a variety of different countries.  So, are you from a Spanish-speaking country?  Maybe you can reach out to your high school teachers directly, find one who is interested, and put us directly in touch with them.

2. Put us in touch with other (well-connected, motivated) educators
Beyond teachers, do you know of other educators who may be in a position to help us get the word out and attract more teachers to give our Spanish-language CS1 a try?  Principals, officials in Education Ministries, etc?  We would love to grow our list of contacts, and nothing is more effective than personal introductions.

3. Join our team!
We are looking to hire a few more motivated students to join the CMU CS Academy's Spanish Team.  All you need to apply is to at least be in 112 now, or have completed 112, to be completely fluent in Spanish (ideally as your first language), and to be utterly committed to the mission of bridging equity divides in CS education around the world.

For any of these matters, to provide us with contacts or to apply to join our team, please send an email to all 4 of the following: Erin Cawley (Program Manager), Austin Schick (Spanish Team lead), Mark Stehlik (co-Director), and myself (co-Director).  Here are our emails in a single easy-to-copy-paste line:

    ecawley@andrew.cmu.edu, aschick@andrew.cmu.edu, mjs@cmu.edu, koz@cmu.edu

We are very grateful for the amazing support of so many CMU students, who have helped us build, support, and grow our project.  Together, we can make a real difference, help bridge equity divides, and help in our way to make the world a better, more inclusive place for all of us.

Carpe diem.

David
