| The Simon Initiative and the University Lecture Series are pleased to invite you to the 2020 Simon Initiative Distinguished Lecture featuring learning and social scientist and collaborative education improvement researcher Louis Gomez Professor of Education and of Information Studies University of California, Los Angeles Thursday, November 19 5 p.m. ET Virtual Program | For over a hundred years, the idea of partnership between K-12 school districts and postsecondary schools of education has been ripe with promise but has proved to be disappointing in actual outcomes. Partnerships are commonly seen as a way to re-define the field of education. In this conversation, Gomez offers the iLead project as a backdrop to discuss a new approach to catalyzing partnerships between school districts and higher education by focusing on the "how" dimensions of partnerships. Through improvement science disciplining the "how" of the collective work of each partnership, this work is showing early indications of synergy that jointly support local capacity building while also producing the potential for field-level benefits. Register by Tuesday, November 17 All participants must register for the event. You will receive a Zoom login link in a confirmation email prior to the event. To help shape the conversation, you are encouraged to pre-submit questions for Dr. Gomez. Questions will be answered during the Q&A portion of the event, as time permits. This event is free and open to the public. Questions? Contact CMU Events. | | | | | | | |
