Please join us for “Arte, Género y Migración”: Regina José Galindo is an internationally known Guatemalan Performance Artist who uses her own body in extreme ways to protest violence against women, such as being waterboarded by a professional torturer, having her naked body dumped in a plastic bag in a landfill, and subjecting herself to a hymen reconstruction surgery that is most often performed on child prostitutes for the purpose of human trafficking. This Wednesday she will address migration from Central America and Mexico, in which women, men and children often disappear or are held for months in detention centers known as “dog pounds” or “iceboxes.”  See her work at: http://www.reginajosegalindo.com/en/home-en/
