Community Mural Project Engagement

How you can engage with the mural this semester:

With COVID still being prevalent and limiting our interactions, engagement will be virtual/remote  )(I am sorry to those who were interested in painting with me in-person, I really wanted to as well :( ).

Please respond to this email with the option you choose.

Options:

1. Donate a white or blue fabric mask for me to use in the mural's sky portion (they will be the clouds). Further details below about what the mask should look like…

- If you are in the Pittsburgh area, you can either mail me the mask to my address (upon request) or we can arrange to meet

- If you are NOT in the Pittsburgh area, please mail me the mask (I will give my address in reply to your choice)

2. Donate fabric, textiles, patches, pins, etc. that you want me to integrate into the mural. It can symbolic to you and be something that may represent your feelings at CMU or your identity. Please keep these to roughly the size of a mask, if it is bigger we can figure it out!!

3. Pick up (or request drop-off) a plain white mask from me. ONLY if you are in the Pittsburgh area. I only have 8 to offer.

4. The mask could be pre-printed or we can figure out a way to engage that works best for you.

**I am not limiting number of masks or textiles, so please engage and invite other people to engage as well***

When should you send in the completed mask:

PLEASE mail in the mask/arrange to meetBY THE END OF MARCH but as soon as possible is preferred.

What should you do with the mask?

1. BE CREATIVE: you can draw/paint something that is important to your identity and how you navigate CMU.

2. WRITE a word or phrase with a sharpie or puff paint that describes how being at CMU feels, how you'd like to be welcomed in a community, what community means to you, etc.
