6 - Project-LOGUE Call for Submissions

Project-LOGUE, an initiative promoting awareness of Pittsburgh's linguistic and cultural diversity, is opening a call for writing and art submissions in languages other than English.

The theme is:

Tell us about the untranslatable in your life! Maybe it's a word, phrase, or proverb that loses meaning in translation. Maybe it's a conversation you can't imagine having in a second language. Maybe it's a feeling or experience that language alone can't express.

Submissions are due: October 15th

Email prjlogue@gmail.com if you have any questions or submissions.

7 - Vibrant Pittsburgh Survey

Vibrant Pittsburgh is an organization dedicated to making Pittsburgh a more welcoming and comfortable place for people of all diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. They have sent us a survey regarding our opinion of Pittsburgh. Please fill this out, as this data can be used to make improvements around the city!

8 - Nicaraguan Cooperative in Pittsburgh

Aldea Global, a pioneering Nicaraguan cooperative with certified fair trade, organic, and rainforest alliance coffee is visiting Pittsburgh Oct. 25 and 26. We will hear from a woman who works for the cooperative about their programs for women's empowerment, economic development, and health.

This event at the Global Switchboard is relevant to anyone interested in working in the international development sector as well as socially responsible businesses who account for social impact in their supply chains. The event is free and open to the public. We will host a light reception following the coffee tasting with complimentary appetizers and food and wine for purchase.
