In Our Own Words:  Voices of Exiled Palestinian Refugees

In Our Own Words:
Voices of Exiled Palestinian Refugees

Tuesday, October 17 -- 7:00 PM

Members and friends of First Unitarian Church, along with people from the larger community, will have an extraordinary opportunity on Tuesday, October 17, to hear directly from exiled Palestinian refugees.  One of the speakers will be 84-year-old Khawla Hammad, who has lived for sixty-nine years in a refugee camp in Lebanon following expulsion from Palestine, her homeland, in 1948.  Khawla will be accompanied by 23-year-old Amena Elashkar, a Palestinian refugee, journalist, and translator.

You can learn more about this event here.

At First Unitarian Church, our spiritual theme for the month of October is Courage.  Come and be inspired by the courage of Khawla and Amena.  Come and have the courage to listen to a narrative from the margins.

This event will begin at 7:00 PM and it will take place at First Unitarian Church.  Admission is free.  Hope to see you there!

This event is part of the 2017 Nakba Tour which includes events in many cities throughout the United States and Canada.  You can learn more about the Nakba Tour here.
