Pelo Malo, March 22 @5pm

Bad Hair (Pelo Malo)

Directed by Mariana Rondón | Venezuela | 2014 | 93 min.

Sunday, March 22 -- 5:00pm @  McConomy Auditorium, CMU

With realism and humor, Bad Hair chronicles nine-year-old Junior's life in a housing project in contemporary Caracas, Venezuela, where he lives with his widowed mother and baby brother. While his mother struggles to find cleaning jobs to feed her family, Junior's obsessions are of a more aesthetic nature. Director Mariana Rondón grounds the film in the harsh realities of working-class Caracas - its underpinnings of racism, violence, poverty homophobia - and the enduring human search for beauty.

Event includes:
Post-screening Q&A with Director Mariana Rondón
