Discover the magic of STEM education in our latest telenovela! đź‘Ź

Today, Monday Sept 25th, at 1 PM ET/12 PM CT/10 AM PT – UnivisiĂłn will premier our latest season of our social impact telenovela miniseries, La Fuerza de Creer. This five-episode miniseries will air consecutive episodes through Friday, September 29th, on your Local UnivisiĂłn Channel. We expect a national audience of 500k to 600k each day.

With funding from the National Science Foundation, we created this short-run series about a family diner that has fallen on hard times and the efforts of three adult sisters to save it. The show is every bit the mainstream telenovela – with love and loss, villains and heroes, generational family melodrama, etc., all played out with an amazing cast and state of the art production values.

However, being a Literacy Partners production, the show also has an ambitious social purpose reflecting how Latine cultures embrace and nurture scientific literacy. We show parents explicitly promoting their young children's sense of wonder, curiosity, and persistence – i.e., supporting their development of a "scientific mindset" – which is a long-term strategy to close the existing opportunity gap in which Latine communities are dramatically underrepresented in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education and careers.

As Michelle Lopez, the Executive Director of La Fuerza de Familias Latinas, a parent education program run by Literacy Partners, said in the press release:

"The best way to bring more Spanish-speaking talent into STEM careers is to start early and that means engaging families of young children in their home language and home culture"

Our family engagement workshops will begin immediately following this broadcast run, first with a cohort of parents for research purposes and then opening the program to parents and caregivers in our priority markets across the country: NYC, Philly, FL, TX, NV, and Southern CA.

Together, we have the power to champion STEM education, illuminate the path for Latine communities, and inspire the scientists, engineers, and technologists of tomorrow. Don't forget to tune in today!
