The ongoing political crisis and protests in Peru, triggered by the deposition of Pedro Castillo as Peru's President by the Peruvian Congress after Castillo attempted to dissolve Congress on December 7th, 2022, has resulted in nearly fifty deaths and ongoing repression against protestors amidst calls for new elections to resolve the situation. This panel has been convened to discuss what has been going on in Peru, provide context on the historical roots and significance of the current crisis and consider what the future might hold for Peruvian politics.
