Donor drive for 7 year old Mexican boy at CMU THIS THURSDAY

Hello,

I wanted to make your organization aware that CMU will be hosting a donor drive for Be The Match THIS Thursday (February 24 from 11:30-3:30pm) at Wean Commons.  This is a simple cheek swab that takes 10 seconds for anyone ages 18-40 and can save a life!  We are looking to save the life of Jax Ramirez of Zelienople, PA.  He is a 6 year old boy with a very rare autoimmune disease and he needs a lifesaving bone marrow transplant.  Jax is half Mexican, which means we are really hoping for a lot of diversity with getting swabs, especially from Hispanic and Latinx groups.  Due to his Mexican ethnicity, his chances of finding a match are less than 50%.

See this link to hear Jax's story

Can you please help promote this within your group and post on your facebook page to help get people to the drive?  Again this is a simple cheek swab and they will join the "registry" of Be The Match for Jax or anyone searching for a life saving match.  More information can be found at https://bethematch.org/about-us/

See the attached flyers that can be shared!

Thank you!
Laura
