SALSA Update 4/23/2020

Hola amigos!

I hope you're doing well during these interesting times. If you need any support please reach out to the eboard; we can help you find financial support, connect on social media with you, organize game nights, send care packages, and more. Please just let us know what would be most helpful.

We have two main updates for you today that come as a result of the GBM discussions yesterday. These regard elections and the remainder of our budget for the year.

First, our budget will be used for three different items. We will first be buying some pins for our members (~$100). Our remaining budget (~$1000) will be split evenly and donated to the Tartan Emergency Fund and Casa San Jose. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns about this.

Secondly, we have decided to postpone formal elections until next semester. We have decided to do this because we recognize that not everyone knows what the coming semester will look like for them, where they will be located, or how free they will be to help lead this growing organization. This means that the eboard roles next academic year will be a shortened term (Sept-April instead of April '20-April '21). Additionally, our current eboard will maintain their current roles until these new elections take place.

In light of that, we have also decided to temporary elect members for the following positions:

  • Event Planner
  • Internal Outreach
  • Marketing

Position descriptions can be found here. To indicate your interest, please fill out this form. To nominate someone for one of these positions, please reply to this email directly. Again, these positions will be from now until Fall 2020 when a new eboard is officially elected in person at elections.

Depending on the number of interested personnel, we will either ask applicants to fill out an application (3 or fewer applicants per position) or attend a virtual election that will be recorded and shared with members so they can vote on the best applicant for the position (4 or more applicants per position).

Please reach out if you have any concerns about these decisions. Again, all of these were made during our virtual GBM yesterday with the presence of eboard members and general club members.

We hope you are all doing well and that we see you at the great events we are planning for this fall!

Best,

Kate Liston

President
