Colombian activist hip-hop lawyer coming to Pittsburgh

Mario Cardoza is the very first person in Colombia to be recognized by the state as a conscientious objector for non-religious reasons.  After receiving the Muhammad Ali award for conviction, he’ll be doing a speaking tour to form relationships between the Colombian CO community and groups/orgs in the states and raise funds for their struggle.  The Colombian CO community is looking to make connections with people in the states that are also working to resist and transform violence and militarism in their lives.  Mario grew up in Soacha, a rather infamous slum of Bogotá, and works as a lawyer and hip-hop artist to support young people there who resist  the many manifestations of violence and militarization in their lives.  You can see more background info in the flyer above.

He should be in Pittsburgh from October 13-14, but those dates may fluctuate a bit depending on how speaking events shake out.
