LACU invited you to "Documentary: Raices". , get ready for the LACU performance at the 33rd Latin American and Caribbean Festival!  Join us to watch the documentary "Raices" (BPPR 2001) on Tuesday, March 19th at 7:00pm and enjoy the history, rythm and colors of the Bomba and Plena from Puerto Rico. Bomba is a musical expression created in Puerto Rico at the end of the 17th century, by West Africans and their descendants who worked the colonial sugar plantations along the coast of Puerto Rico.    Through the "Raices" documentary, we celebrate the manifestation of two of most popular genres in Puerto Rico: the Bomba and Plena. Artists like Marc Anthony, Lucecita Benitez, Jose Feliciano, Olga Tanon, Cultura Profetica, among others, make this production one where, those who love this rythm, will find a lot of musical numbers representative of both genders, as well as educational information that complements the music and dances presented.
