3rd Annual Americas-in-Concert: Jazz
Featuring The Eric Mintel Quartet (Eric Mintel [Piano], Nelson Hill [Flute, Alto & Soprano Sax], Dave Antonow [Electric Bass], and Dave Mohn [Drums])
The Philadelphia-based Eric Mintel Quartet, featuring the band's namesake and renowned jazz pianist and composer, will captivate Pittsburgh audiences of all ages with their fresh and invigorating new arrangements of classic jazz standards, original songs by Mintel, and the rarely heard music of jazz great Dave Brubeck. The concert is free and open to the public, and seating is limited and available on a first come basis.
This is the third year that Pittsburgh Cardiovascular Institute and Med Health Services are sponsoring "The AmericasIn Concert" event, which they hope to make a long-lasting Pittsburgh tradition. The annual concerts are designed to promote the development of local and national professional musicians, while exposing Pittsburgh's general public to the musical works of all of the America's, from North to South

Jazz Workshop
In conjunction with the "Americas in Concert" Series, the Eric Mintel Quartet is offering a Jazz Workshop to be held prior to the concert. The workshop will focus on: Jazz Theory, Ensemble Performance, Public Performance, Jazz Rhythms Studies (including Latin styles, Swing, Funk, Hip Hop, and Odd Meter), Roles of Instruments in the Small Ensemble, Live Performance and Stage Presence Tips, and Music Business Insight.
The workshop is free.
