Come practice the moves you've learned over the semester, hang with your fellow tartaneros, learn a lil' rueda, and eat empanadas! DJ D'Aço will be providing the tunes, we'll provide the food. Join us for an unforgettable night with 2024 Goldman Environmental Prize winner Andrea Vidaurre at Women for a Healthy Environment's annual fundraiser on May 1 at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

Andrea Vidaurre, winner of the "Green Nobel," is a fearless climate justice advocate who took on the powerful trucking industry and won. As co-founder of People's Collective for Environmental Justice, she led efforts that will phase out diesel trucks by 2035, protecting frontline communities from toxic air pollution. Her work has reshaped environmental policy, proving that grassroots action can drive systemic change.

As part of Women for a Healthy Environment's 15-year anniversary celebration, Vidaurre will deliver a powerful keynote on May 1, sharing her journey, victories in environmental justice and the fight for a healthier future. Click here to register!

Friday, April 4, 2024 Dear Felipe,   Colombia is once again at a crossroads. Over the past weekend, the port city of Buenaventura saw a sharp rise in violence, with illegal armed groups terrorizing communities. Among the victims was a young, rising Afro-Colombian football star—another tragic reminder of the deep-rooted insecurity that continues to grip the region.   At WOLA, we are closely monitoring this crisis. I recently wrote about this alarming wave of violence, examining its root causes and what must be done to build lasting peace in Colombia. You can read my full analysis here.
