Dr. Jeremy Weber, Professor of International Affairs and former chief economist at the White House (the Council of Economic Advisers) in the first Trump administration, will discuss economic policies in the first Trump administration (hardline on China, most tariffs, a focus on buy-America) and second (CHIPs-like investment tax credits for strategic domestic manufacturing). Dr. Siyao Li, Assistant Professor of International Affairs, a specialist in the politics of international trade and China's political economy will discuss the Trump administration's trade policy, including his tariff policy towards China. Dr. Andrea Peña-Vasquez, Assistant Professor of International Affairs, an expert in migration, citizenship, race and ethnicity will discuss the Trump's administration's immigration policies and it's likely impact on immigrants in the United States. Dr. Michael Kenney, Ridgway Center Director and Professor of International Affairs, an expert in violent extremism, terrorism, and antifascism and anarchism in the U.S., will discuss the prospects for domestic political violence in the weeks and months ahead.
